Polimeks awarded the tender for Ashgabat International Airport.
Polimeks Construction, one of the biggest international contracting companies of Turkey, won the tender for the construction of Ashgabat International Airport. The value of Ashgabat International Airport construction project is 2.253 billion dollars, the largest sum ever undertaken by a Turkish contractor abroad. Designed with inspiration from the national symbols of Turkmenistan, the construction of the new airport is planned to start in January 2013 and to be competed in 2016. The new airport will serve 14 million passengers per annum on a closed area of 150,000 square meters.Next News
Polimeks Chairman Erol Tabanca pointed out that Ashgabat International Airport, when completed, would be among the major airports of not only Turkmenistan but also of the whole world, adding that they were proud of winning this tender for constructing the Ashgabat International Airport. Tabanca said, “We would like to thank Turkmenistan President Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for their belief in our company”.
Reminding that they completed many projects in Turkmenistan over the last 17 years, Erol Tabanca said the construction of the new airport will begin in January 2013, and they targeted to complete it in 2016. “The value of our new project is about 2.253 billion dollars. We have completed 120 projects since our foundation. About 95 percent of our portfolio is consisted of projects in Turkmenistan. Presently, we continue other projects including mainly the construction of Ashgabat Olympic Complex, Ashgabat Technology Center and Awaza Congress Center. Ashgabat International Airport project will be a serious experience for our company.
